Rock This Party

This morning, Room 3 and Room 4 went into the hall to learn some new dance moves. The instructor's name was Kate. She was a really good dancer. I felt happy that I had learned some new moves.

Pictures in the Mind

I have been practising using words in my writing that give readers pictures in their minds.
On the 14th of November 2013, our school had our Athletics Day. We had some events like Long Jump, High Jump, Sprints and Shot Put.
The first event we did was shot put. When the 9 year old girls and boys had run as fast as a rocket to the Shot Put, we all had to write our names on the big lined piece of paper.
When it was my turn, I picked up the put, shaped like a circle. I said, “This is so heavy, it feels like lead.”
When I threw the heavy put, I thought I might hit Karen, the instructor. I didn’t hit her. That was lucky. After a few tiring throws, the hooter went and it sounded like a fire siren.

The Magic Show

Yesterday our school went to the hall to watch Elgrego's magic show.

When we were ready, Elgrego began his magic, by making birds appear. He made a dove appear in his hands and put it in a cage. The last bird was a parrot. He pulled it out of an empty box.
Next, he performed a magic trick with fizzy drink.

The Best Dad

Do you want to hear about the best dad in the world?
My dad is the best dad in the world.  Do you know why?  Because he used to lift me upside down and he lets me walk on the roof, but sometimes I feel a bit sick.
My dad is the best at hunting and fishing because he has the best dogs for hunting and now we have a boat at our house.

My dad plays rugby with me.  He is funny and happy and nice.

My Wonderful Mother

My mother is wonderful because she gives me food. At breakfast, she gets me my cereal out. At lunch time, she gives me a yummy lunch. At afternoon tea, she gets a drink and some fruit. At dinner, she cooks me yummy dinner.
My mother is wonderful because she helps me when I’m sick. She gives me some medicine. She feels my head and takes my temperature. She gets me some toast If i’m feeling hungry. If I need to be sick, she will get me a bowl. She gives me lemonade.
My mother is wonderful because she helps me with my homework. She will get the computer ready. If I’m stuck, she will come and help me. She reads the homework sheet and signs it.

What I Found Out About Breakfast

I learnt that to have a good breakfast, the sugar should be less than 15 grams, the fat should have less than 10 grams and the dietary fibre and fibre should be more than 5 grams. WeetBix, Porridge, Spaghetti with whole grain bread and Corn Flakes and Rices with fruit are some of the healthiest breakfasts. Coke, Coco Pops and Pies you should not eat all the time. Otherwise, you might get sick.

Zero Waste

It is important to reuse, recycle, reduce and compost so that we don't keep adding to the landfill. Every month, landfill is as long as a rugby field and 30 classrooms high of rubbish. We can reuse our old things that we don't need any more to make something else useful such as a pencil holder, a mouse play house, a piggy bank, can people, a mini house, a bird feeder, puppets and a rugby tee.

My First Communion

Last night Dad, Grace, Hunter, Uncle Spenser, Aunty Monique and I went to our Church for my First Communion.
I was wallking up in the line. When I got Father, he held up the bread and said, ''This is the Body of Christ," then I said, "Amen." Then I stepped over to Mr Prendergast and he held up the wine and said, "This is the Blood of Christ." Then I slowly wallked back to my seat. When I got back to my seat, I was feeling freaked out because I had just received the Body and Blood of Christ.

A Fishy Tale

One sunny day, suddenly I caught a large black sting-ray.
When it got on the big jet boat, it suddenly stung me. The barb went into me like a rocket ship. I fell into the water and dropped to the bottom.  When I hit the bottom, I found a big life-jacket under a green stone rock. I got the life-jacket out from underneath the rock and floated slowly up to the top.
Luckily, the big sting-ray had swum away.

Holy Week

On Palm Sunday, Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem. As he was coming into the city, people started to wave palms and shout Hosanna to the King!!! When the donkey stopped, the people laid their cloaks on the donkey and, after a while, Jesus left.

Holy Thursday is the day when Jesus had the last supper with his disciples in a large room. Jesus broke the bread and gave thanks. After that, they ate the bread and drank the wine.
On Good Friday, Jesus died on the cross, but he did not stay dead for long. Three days later, he rose from the dead. That feast day is called Easter Sunday.

Swimming Sports

Yesterday our school went to the Ngaruawahia pools to have our Swimming Sports.
After lunch, we had our house relays. Before we started, Isabella jumped into the ice blue, clear water. Mr Emms blew the loud white whistle. Isabella ran as fast as she could to the other side of the pool and tagged Logan. After Logan had got tagged, he ran like Usain Bolt. When he got to the other side, he tagged Laken. After Logan tagged Laken, she swam across the pool and tagged Josh. After Josh got tagged, he dived into the pool and started to swim freestyle. When he reached the end, he reached up and tagged my hand. I felt his wet and slippery hand. I dived in. After I dived in, everyone was cheering and saying, “Go, Nat, go!” When I took a breath, I heard cheering, so I swam faster. In about 20 seconds, I reached the end.
